Qualified and registered ECE teacher

Dear Young Learners Whānau,
I am Amanda. I migrated to New Zealand from China in 2016 and have been working in early childhood education since 2017. I am a provisional registered teacher with a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE). I live in Western Heights with my husband and two school aged children.

I highly value the crucial role of a play-based learning curriculum in fostering children’s holistic development and learning. I view children as confident and competent learners who bring knowledge and strength with them. Following their interests and strengths, I empower them to explore and construct knowledge in their own ways while providing scaffolding. I also value whanaungatanga (relationships) and commit to engaging in reciprocal, responsive, and respectful relationships with learners, their whānau, and the teaching team. I advocate for inclusive education and acknowledge diversity as essential for facilitating the active participation of all learners.

I speak English and Mandarin and am working on my Te reo Māori and Māori cultural knowledge. I am looking forward to learning from tamariki, whānau and professional kaiako here in Young Learners.

Ngā mihi,
